There are things in this world that once they are broken, they simply can’t be repaired. Humpty Dumpty is a good example. There are other things that can be repaired, even though a certain cabal of people, namely the corporations that make money from such propaganda, don’t want the average person to know that. Anyone who owns the Sony Playstation 3 is probably familiar with some of the more common problems from which this unit occasionally suffers. One of these, the dreaded “yellow light of death” as it’s come to be called, is a problem that can be fixed with the proper knowledge. In fact, so as not to lend it any credit, henceforth the yellow light of death will simply be referred to as the Playstation 3 ylod. I won’t even give it justice by putting it into capital letters.
Tens of thousands of gamers have been struck by this seemingly insurmountable failure. Fortunately the simple flashing light from which the term Playstation 3 ylod comes, does not necessarily indicate a catastrophic system failure any more than running out of gas means the end of your auto. The most common cause of the ylod is a simple faulty soldering job. The motherboard that contains the necessary components to make the PS3 do its thing is connected via several soldered circuits. Occasionally, the solder is less than complete and eventually a small piece chips away leaving a gap in the connection. Simply repairing this will get you up and running again.
The hardest part of this fix is finding where to solder. There may be no obvious signs. Fortunately there is an excellent guide available that explains a simple fix called solder reflow. The guide will explain exactly what you need to do and in no time at all, you’ll have the Playstation 3 ylod extinguished and be back to full game play.
